Mill - Molen en Maalderij
M is also for memories ….
As a child a grow up living next to a windmill, where my grandfather and father grind grains to flour for the local bakeries. Partial by wind-energy (if available of course), partial using electricity.
I still recall the smell of fresh flour,
I still hear the noises of the wooden parts when the mill was working,
I still remember the beautiful view outside the window in the top of the mill ….
Lot’s of good memories from my childhood …

My greatgrandfather let this mill build around 1905. The top part is second hand, it is build on brick walls. Around 1978 a large renovation took place, to make it work properly again. The wings (sails) where replaced by a new system and lot’s of other work I can’t remember. I was a child that time.
The mill is renovated again in 2001/2002. Have a look here, in 2002 the cover where so bright it reflected the sun like a mirror. I didn’t like it at all. The house I grow up, is demolished … I still feel sorrow for that happening.

This is another mill next to the house; an industrial one for making animal food.
This building is also demolished…

Wat leuk dat jullie een molen in de familie hadden! Mooie foto’s en interessant verhaal.
Bijzondere memories….
