FO: Mabon

Mabon aka Labwork started as an experiment about 3 weeks ago,
without realising in tune with the season…

I knitted a blank of undyed Trekking sockyarn with a double strand and dyed it in the rich colors of Mabon; earthy brown, green, deep purple, warm red. While ripping the blank I started knitting the socks two at once toe-up. The crossed stitches on the midfoot are a pattern used in the Slippery Socks”..

Mabon or Alban Elfed is one of the eight annual sabbats on or around September 23rd: the autumn equinox.  The Autumn Equinox divides the day and night equally, it a good habit to prepare yourself for the upcoming winter periode of the dark nights and thank the now waning sunlight of the summer and all its gift that has brought to you. Mabon is the second of three harvest festivals; it is nice to celebrate it with a ritual of thanksgiving for the fruits of the earth.
