FO: Comfy

Just a pair of comfy house socks made of hand spun yarn.
And Vlekje likes them too, he loves hugging them :-)

This summer I got some fleece of a “German Milksheep”. The fleece had spots of two shades of light gray, a dark gray and white. I spun the colors seperate into yarn - about DK [...]

FO: Funky Frankies

Funky Frankies… love at first sight!
When I looked at the pattern, I run to my box filled with stash, hoping to find a suitable yarn. Luckely I found some smooth solid sockyarn. It seems to have been waiting for this pair of socks.

I really love them!

Bold colors, fun to knit, a joy to wear ;-)

FO: Schier

Wollig on October 22nd, 2008

Sokketiers is the first Dutch Sockyarn Club. Schier is the first pattern, a design of Yarnissima.  The yarn is dyed in the theme “Droomtijd” by Storm in the Attic. The sock in a very bright orange/red was a joy to knit and is a joy to wear!. A color I wouldn’t buy or dye myself - [...]

WIP: Noro socks

Fotografie, Wollig on October 12th, 2008

Looking for a pattern for the Noro sockyarn,
I found most available patterns to complicated to work with this yarn.
Just stockinette didn’t appeal to me either,
so I knitted a simple stripe, using the strand from the inside and outside of the ball..

Now I have a second sock problem.
This first sock, above on the right has nice [...]

FO: Mabon

Druicca, Wollig on September 29th, 2008

Mabon aka Labwork started as an experiment about 3 weeks ago,
without realising in tune with the season…

I knitted a blank of undyed Trekking sockyarn with a double strand and dyed it in the rich colors of Mabon; earthy brown, green, deep purple, warm red. While ripping the blank I started knitting the socks two at [...]

Serious doubts…

Wollig on September 8th, 2008

The 4rd challenge of the sock knitters pentathlon is Ziggy. It is my first time stranded knitting. I like a challenge, learning new techniques. So I decided to give it a try! I started using a black uni (Opal) and multi green/yellow (Boterbloemen in het gras / Wolwereld) A funky color combination with a very bold [...]

Labwork!

Wollig on September 7th, 2008

This weeks experiments :-)

I heard of the existence of sock blanks a few months ago, but couldn’t find any info about it. Time for some experimenting! I knitted a blank of undyed Trekking sockyarn with a double strand. I dyed it in some nice colors, green, brown, purple and deep red. Next fase: I’ll rip [...]

It’s showtime! The last week I finished (and even started) these projects. Although my left hand still hurts, I found a way to continue knitting. I was so glad, knitting works better for me then anti-depressives do ;-)

Luella, made from Storm op Zolder hand dyed blue faced leicester sockyarn. The colorway is “Lentefee” - Fairy [...]

Just chatting …

Wollig on August 17th, 2008

Wipswrestling … two of my projects are finished.
The third one, the most challenging is frogged. Again! I give up! After completing the heel I noticed La Digitesse didn’t fit my feet. I made so many mistakes I was no longer content with it. I decided to frog again. Maybe I’ll start a third attempt in [...]

Pattern: Maeve

Wollig on August 15th, 2008

My buddy of the Magic Ball swap send me in the parcel a hand dyed yarn in a mauve-taupe-chestnut like color. The yarn inspired my to design this pattern with twisted stitches, working toe-up. The yarn hasn’t much twist set in it, so the twisted stitches appear a bit diffuse.
These socks have a striking twisted [...]
